Get Rid of Dust Mites for Good
Dust mites are disgusting little creatures that lurk in our homes but can’t be seen by the naked eye. Were you aware that a typical mattress may have anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million mites inside! That’s because they like to live in our bed where it’s nice and warm. They also eat off the loose scales that are formed on our skin. In this article you will discover how to get rid of dust mites for good.
There are several different ways you can attempt to get rid of dust mites starting with washing your sheets every single week but it has to be in water at least 130 degrees. Now that will help but they will still be in your mattress, pillows and bedding. If you are considering purchasing a new mattress, be sure and leave the plastic cover on because they can’t live there. Also, get rid of your feather and down pillows because they are hard to wash and dust mites just love those.
There are some services that will come and clean your mattress so that’s another route you can take. After you have accomplished that, be sure and put a cover on your mattress so those pesky creatures will stay out once and for all. Also be sure and purchase a foam pillow or ones with synthetic filling.
Let’s not forget about our blankets and covers too so be sure and don’t use something that will be difficult to throw in the washing machine. You also have to consider your children. If they have stuffed animals on their bed, those will need to be washed weekly as well.
Vacuum around the bed at least once a week, or if you have wood floors use a damp mop to dust, so that nothing goes flying into the air and lands on your bed. You’ll also need to wash your curtains but a way to cut down on that is to just use vinyl shades.
We also have to remember that dust mites live in your carpet as well so if you have animals, you can bet they are lingering around them too. Can you see how difficult it can be to actually get rid of them once and for all? They love warm climates so you can always just keep it very warm in your home if you want to be sure they never bother you again.
Personally, none of these options sound very appealing to me because that is a heck of a lot of work. I know for a fact that I’m not going to wash my sheets, pillows, blankets, covers and curtains every single week. That’s just way too much work!
You’ve gotten to the end of this article and you are probably saying to yourself, “I’m still waiting to discover how to get rid of dust mites for good!”
