How To Pack Lightly When Traveling
It can be such a burden to carry a big suitcase around when you are trying to enjoy your vacation. But, if you master the art of packing you will be able to lighten your load and still have all of the things that you need. The first thing that you need to do is think about where you are going, the types of activities that you will be doing, and how many days you are going to be gone. These are all variables that will change the way that you should pack your suitcase. If you take a little bit of time to analyze your trip before packing, you can put together a good packing list that will include all of the essential items that you need.
When you are traveling to a beach destination, the common mistake is to pack too many clothes. These types of vacations usually involve a lot of time at the beach, so you don’t need to worry about bringing a full outfit for each day that you are there. Instead, focus on taking a few swimsuits and some cover clothing (like tank tops, tshirts, shorts, etc), and then choose 2 pairs of shots/capris along with a few shirts to match the shorts. Also, limit your shoes to a pair of flip flops, sandals, and a nice pair of shoes (if you need them).
Another trick to packing lightly is to use smaller bottles of toiletries. If you are going to be gone for 5 days, it is not necessary to bring the big bottle of shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, etc. Instead, spend a few dollars at the store to buy travel size bottles, this will save you a lot of space and weight in your bag.
Also, review your clothing choices and choose items that can be paired together. It is ok to wear a skirt or pants 2 or 3 days on your trip, just make sure to bring coordinating accessories and shirts so that you can change everything around.
Always remember, that you can always go buy things if you need more. Many people often purchase clothing on vacation anyway, so don’t feel obligated to bring your entire closet when you take your trip!
