How to Pick a Halloween Costume Idea 2010
With a few weeks to go until Halloween and Halloween Parties starting sooner it is crunch time to figure out what to be for Halloween. You can make a run to your local Halloween store. You can Make your own costume. Or you can do a combination of both.
When we were young it was so simple. You definitely had a favorite cartoon or favorite character and when Halloween came around that was the plan. Now you’re an adult things can get a little more complicated. Here’s a few things to think about.
Who would you prefer to be? Do you still have a favorite show…if so is there a theme to this character…
Big movies of this year have been Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story, Avatar, and THE A-TEAM. Mac Gruber, and of course Twilight. All these movies carry easily recognizable characters and seem pretty easy to duplicate.
Musical Artists such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, or even Hanna Montana seem to be big names for females. Male Musicians that are always popular around Halloween are Michael Jackson, Elvis, and Kiss. Males usually lean towards Horror Movie characters. Michael Myers is fresh due to Rob Zombie’s new Movies. Freddy Krueger and Jason are always Noticeable. But new Horror movies bring us the likes of Jigsaw and Captain Stabbin’ also of Rob Zombie fame.
Period costumes have usually been a fun way of expressing yourself and the possibilities are endless from the Toga party, to the renaissance, to the Roaring 20’s, 60’s, and 70’s and now even the 80’s. Themes also fall into this genre it is fun for men to dress up as rappers, rockers, and Pimps. While women prefer sexy outfits such as maids, fairies, princesses, and vixens.
Comic characters have been a constant theme throughout Halloween men love to dress up like Joker as of recently due to the Batman Begins franchise and revamping then there’s Batman, Iron man, and any Star Wars character you can imagine. Women prefer wonder woman, Catwoman or even a sexy version of Robin.
If you do not have the time or energy you can always make a quick run to your Local Halloween Store. Inanimate objects such as Light Bulbs, Hot Dogs, Toilet Seats, Bananas, Beer Pong Tables, Breathalyzers are all available for last minute ideas.
If you want to be creative take a look at the news headlines from the past year. Some of the biggest stories are easily imitated through art and the best Halloween costumes I have seen have dealt with topics throughout the year. In the past Michael Vick with a stuffed dog was a really funny costume in my thoughts and on top of that it was a woman. This year the BP oil spill was a really big headline and there are BP Halloween costumes for sale and they are doing quite well. My thoughts on a Halloween costume are if you are funny creative and comfortable at the same time it is a winner.
