Secrets of Foosball Victory
In order to reach your goal, you will need lots of practice. This is where the saying “Practice makes perfect” comes in. Of course, playing foosball a lot isn’t going to be as difficult for most people as practicing the piano, and it certainly won’t require the workout time of real football but if you want to do well in the game you need make a personal investment in your success.
Now let’s start off by discussing some of the basics where practice is going to help you the most.
The first area to work on is offense. Don’t watch your opponent. Maintain your eyes on the ball at all times. The best way to hit the ball and keep your opponent from returning it is to hit it at an angle. In order to control the ball better, keep your players close by it as much as possible. Once you have mastered this, learn how to do the wrist flick. The wrist must be thrust firmly downwards toward the ground.
Learning about defense is the next step. The key is to control the ball. Keep these steps in mind as you play: Block the ball, gain control of it and hit it towards the goal. Don’t play around with the ball, because it is extremely easy for the opponent to gain control of it. You can block their goals better if you keep your players staggered.
Once you have mastered the details of the game, you need to test yourself against others. Invite your family and friends to play with you. When you can beat most of them, join a foosball association or club in order to get the type of competition you need to prepare for entering a tournament.
It is not enough to learn how to manipulate the ball and make goals. You must learn the official rules that will be used in a tournament. The rules will not be any different from the standard rules of the game. If you learn them well, you won’t have to worry about breaking one that isn’t mentioned.
If you want to be a tournament winner, there are several things you should keep in mind. Practice on different tables and especially on new ones. Be sure to use new balls, too. In nearly every type of tournament, they use new equipment. Don’t let yourself become nervous. Stay calm. This should happen naturally as you play in more and more tournaments. Just keep on keeping on. The only way you will fail is if you give up.
Patiently play the game, but keep your eyes open, and be ready for those moments when you can attack and make a goal. Play to win, but be a good sport about it. Be friendly to the other players, and do what you can to encourage each one.
After you have practiced, learned the techniques of playing foosball and feel like you are ready for a new challenge, sign up for a tournament. Who knows? You may be the next world champion of foosball!
