State Trees of United States of America
All fifty states in United States of America have a designated official tree. They were chosen as the official tree because of its gorgeousness and importance.
1. Alabama – Southern longleaf pine, big trees with coarsely scaly, orange-brown bark and slender dark green needles, 3 in a cluster and about ten to fifteen inches long. The large cones are dull brown and prickly and about five to ten inches long.
2. Alaska – Sitka spruce, the bark is reddish brown and thin with loosely attached scales. Cones are light orange-brown and are about two to three inches long.
3. Arizona – Paloverde, A short stout tree with yellow to yellow-green bark. The leaves are oblong in shape and are paired with two leaflets on the side.
4. Arkansas – Southern yellow pine (shortleaf pine)
5. California – California redwood, thick reddish brown bark deeply furrowed and fibrous. The leaves are flat needle like and unequal in length.
6. Colorado – Blue spruce, four angled needles of blue spruce are about three fourths to one and one eight inches long. Cones are about two to four inches long.
7. Connecticut – White oak, it is a big tree with light gray bark, fissured into scaly ridges.
8. District of Columbia – Scarlet oak, it is a medium to large tree with glossy green and hairless leaves.
9. Delaware – American holly, it is a medium tree with light gray bark with greenish white hairy flowers.
10. Florida – Sabal palmetto, it is a 65ft tree with a trunk of 2ft in diameter. Leaf is about 5ft and has 60 leaflets of about 3 ft long.
11. Georgia – Live oak, it is a big tree with light gray bark, fissured into scaly ridges.
12. Guam – Ifil or Ifit, medium to big tree native to coastal areas.
13. Hawaii – Candlenut, it is a flowering tree that has pale green leaves and nut of about one to two inches in diameter.
14. Idaho – Western white pine, it is a large tree of about 70m tall. Leaves are in bundles of five and have long and slender cones.
15. Illinois – White oak, medium to large tree with ashen gray to white bark.

18. Kansas – Cottonwood, a large tree with thick, deeply fissured bark.
19. Kentucky – Tulip poplar, it is a large, fast growing tree that grows up to 30m tall.
20. Louisiana – Baldcypress, it is a large tree that grows up to 40m tall with gray-brown to red-brown bark.
21. Maine – Eastern white pine, it is a large tree of about 70m tall. Leaves are in bundles of five and have long and slender cones.
22. Maryland – White oak, it is a large tree with light gray bark, fissured into scaly ridges.
23. Massachusetts – American elm, it is a medium to large tree that grows up to 100ft tall.
24. Michigan – Eastern white pine, it is a large tree of about 70m tall. Leaves are in bundles of five and have long and slender cones.
25. Minnesota – Red pine, it is a medium tree of about 35m in height and has orange-red bark.
26. Mississippi – Magnolia, it is a large tree which grows up to 30m tall and has gray to brown bark. The flower of magnolia tree is very fragrant and is creamy white in color.

28. Montana – Ponderosa pine, it is medium to large tree with orange bark unlike other pine trees.
29. Nebraska – cottonwood, it is a large tree with thick, deeply fissured bark.
30. Nevada – Single leaf pinyon pine, it is a small and slow growing pine with dark brown bark and has 1ft diameter trunk.
31. New Hampshire – White birch, it is a small to medium tree that has pointed leaves and bark with horizontal lenticels.
32. New Jersey – Northern red oak, a medium to large tree which grows up to 35m tall and 2m in diameter trunk. The bark is dark reddish gray brown.
33. New Mexico – Pinyon pine, it is a small and slow growing pine with dark brown bark and has 1ft diameter trunk.
34. New York – Augar maple, it is a medium to large tree with deciduous leaves and grows up to 5m tall.
35. North Carolina – Pine, it is a large tree of about 70m tall. Leaves are in bundles of five and have long and slender cones.
36. North Dakota – American elm, it is a medium to large tree that grows up to 100ft tall.

38. Ohio – Buckeye, it is a small to medium tree that grown up to 35m tall and often has sticky buds.
39. Oklahoma – Redbud, it is a small to medium tree that has a flower in pink color and grows up to 18m tall.

41. Pennsylvania – Eastern hemlock, it is a medium to large tree that grows up to 31m tall. The upper side of the leaf is shiny green to yellow-green in color.
42. Puerto Rico – Silk-cotton tree, it is a tropical tree that grows up to 40m tall and has yellow-red to yellow orange flower.
43. Rhode Island – Red maple, it is a medium to large tree with deciduous leaves and grows up to 5m tall.
