Tea tasting

Tea tasting is different from wine tasting. For many years in tradition these two drinks have been very demanding in terms of production and both of them have had considerable economic, social and cultural impact through the years.Strict procedures are observed when it comes to tea tasting.

Tea is usually consists of a full flavored, with lots of complexities and nuances. Oftentimes, when it comes to tea tasting, it is usually divided into three ground flavors. The foreground, middle ground and the background flavor. Experts on tea tasting demonstrate their forte of expertise without any additives such as sugars, milk or the likes.

It is important to bear in mind that due to the topography, region, climate, conditions, manufacturing process as well as breed of tea (Camellia sinensis), different flavors of tea arises that requires the need for a tea taster to determine the quality of a particular tea. Tea tasting has its own distinct and unique routine. As a taster, he/she will use a large spoon and put the tea in his mouth with a loud slurping noise. This draws the aroma back into his mouth and up into the olfactory nerves. When the liquor swirls round his mouth, the thickness, viscosity is felt and judged. After which, flavors graded by tea tasters themselves using a universal tea language created by the tea industry to further explain and evaluate the overall quality. Once the quality of the tea has been graded and tasted, the tea company will encapsulate a value on it depending on the demands, availability and market trends.

After the tasting is performed only teas can be available to a wide range of additive in accordance to personal taste. Brewing time may be increase or decrease depending on a consumer’s preference.
