Why Build An Outdoor Kitchen?
It is known and agreed upon that kitchens are the gathering place of the home. I remember gathering around the kitchen table to play games, eat dinner, and do homework when I was a child. In the kitchen parties are held and people mingle. Now imagine having that same type of atmosphere outside. A place to keep a crowd entertained for a neighborhood barbecue.
This is possible in an outdoor kitchen. I don’t mean putting a small patio table and a few chairs nest to your barbecue grill. It takes some planning and work, but an outdoor kitchen could be the thing that jumpstarts the entertainer in you.
In an outdoor kitchen you can prepare summer meals and the family can gather around outside as you cook. This is much more appealing than running back and forth between the grill and house. It can be a type of appealing and refreshing refuge during the summer months.
It is possible to spend tens of thousands of dollars building an outdoor kitchen, but it is not necessary. Sure it might be nice to have a full range of outdoor stainless steel appliances, and gigantic grill, but that is a bit of overkill for most folks. For most people a simple kitchen island next to the patio will work fine.
Durability is critical for any outdoor project because of the elements that will beat upon it. For this reason, stone and brick are popular choices for constructing built in grills. It is possible to build cabinets and other features out of wood if it is pressure treated or built out of a type of wood that weathers well.
An outdoor kitchen could provide the perfect relaxing atmosphere for entertaining, or just spending time with your family.
