Reality TV is a global phenomenon which has been around since 1940’s Candid Camera. The 1980’s saw such famous shows as COPS, which followed police officers around their daily life and The Real World which moved a group of strangers into a house together and watched the resultant relationships unfold. But it was the success of Big Brother in the year 2000 amongst other shows in that decade which really propelled reality television into prime time and a global theatre.

One by product of reality TV are the stars which have emerged from their respective shows, and people who used reality TV as a tool to further promote their already popular image. Many reality stars have used their fame to promote a number of products like books, but perfume has been one of the most popular products produced. Here are the best ones:

Jade Goody

Jade Goody became a star after appearing in Big Brother and then later in Celebrity Big Brother. She went on to appear in her own individual reality shows and launched two perfumes: ‘Shhh’ and ‘Controversial’.

Paris Hilton

While Paris Hilton is famously the daughter to the Hilton Hotel Empire and the star of some rather insalubrious home videos which did the rounds on the net, it was her appearances in her own reality TV shows that gave her a positive boost. Her show ‘The Simple Life’, in which she stars alongside her friend and fellow socialite Nicole Ritchey, saw them undertaking different jobs around America. Paris, amidst a plethora of other endorsements, as well as acting and modelling achievements, has launched a number of perfumes: ‘Paris Hilton’, ‘Just Me’, ‘Just Me for Men’, ‘Heiress’, ‘Can Can’ and ‘Fairy Dust’.

Katie Price

While Katie Price started life as a glamour model, she has come a long way since then. She has tried her hand at politics, acting, singing and writing, but is now best known for her reality TV appearances and endorsements. Along with her ex-husband Peter Andre she appeared in a series of reality shows about them and has continued this trend after their divorce, plus she appeared twice in ‘I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here’. Her perfume range includes ‘Stunning’ and ‘Besotted’. Her Ex Peter Andre also tried his hand with a range of aftershave for men.
